(Vocus/PRWEB ) November 5, 2009 -- Curcumin, a powerful component of turmeric, a popular Indian spice, has been demonstrated to help kill cancer cells in patients with esophageal cancer, according to a study published last month in the British Journal of Cancer. This news follows findings from Ohio State University about the efficacy of curcumin in treating colorectal cancer published in BMC Cancer in June.
Researchers believe that curcumin can inhibit the growth and metastasis of tumors in certain types of cancers.
