HolidayLEDs.com, an e-commerce company specializing in LED Christmas lights announced the opening of its 2009 Christmas light recycling program.
Jackson, Michigan (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 2, 2009 -- HolidayLEDs.com, an e-commerce company specializing in LED Christmas lights announced the opening of its 2009 Christmas light recycling program. Participants in the program can send in their old incandescent Christmas lights for recycling and receive a coupon for 15% off energy efficient LED Christmas lights from HolidayLEDs.com.
"We are really excited to have been able to make this a successful program," said Philip C. Curtis of HolidayLEDs.com. "Last year we recycled about 5000 pounds of lights and hope to exceed that this year," Curtis added. The Christmas lights are sent to a recycling facility in Michigan where they are first placed in a commercial shredder and then separated into the various components that make up the light sets including glass, metal, and plastic. The components are then recycled separately.
Although HolidayLEDs.com will accept submissions for its recycling program from anywhere in the U.S. or Canada and there is no minimum submission required, the company is encouraging people interested in recycling their old Christmas lights to look for a local recycling solution first. If no local recycling solution is available, HolidayLEDs.com is asking participants to try and consolidate shipments with friends, neighbors, church groups, co-workers or other groups in an effort to maximize the environmental benefit of the program.
The recycling program which recently reopened for the season will run through the end of February 2010. Each participant will receive a coupon for 15% of any order of energy efficient LED Christmas lights from HolidayLEDs.com. The coupons are good for 1 year. Anyone interested in recycling their old holiday lights should mail them to:
