"SLI Systems has helped our e-commerce business by improving the usability of our site and making it much easier for people to find items they want to purchase," said Sascha Deri, co-founder of AltEStore. "With more and more people becoming interested in renewable energy products - and with the holidays approaching - anything we can do to improve our site's stickiness and offer a more streamlined customer experience is a huge benefit."

“SLI Systems has helped our e-commerce business by improving the usability of our site and making it much easier for people to find items they want to purchase,” said Sascha Deri, co-founder of AltEStore.
In addition to improving the customer experience with Learning Search, AltEStore has developed rich content and educational offerings to help build long-lasting relationships with its customers. In the latest Ecommerce Podcast interview (http://www.ecommercepodcast.com/2009/10/sascha-deri-from-alternative-energy-store.html), Deri and podcast host Shaun Ryan, CEO of SLI Systems, discuss the value for ecommerce businesses in supporting the entire lifecycle of customer needs - from education to installation.

Deri explained that AltEStore works hard to educate customers about the benefits of renewable energy, and how to install and maintain the systems they buy from AltEStore.

"We want to service the customer through the entire process," Deri said in the interview. "We're looking at the whole customer lifecycle - from learning to installing - and hoping they'll also share their knowledge with others."

AltEStore's e-commerce site has steadily added instructional videos and articles under its "Learn" tab, encouraging visitors to get the most out of their purchases from the company. "We're trying to use multimedia formats to educate people," Deri said. "We started off with articles, written by us or by industry experts. We are providing accredited training, and we now do webinars on all the energies we support."

Deri noted that in a tough economic climate, ecommerce businesses that simply provide products will find it difficult to engage customers. "Companies that just sell products will have a tough time," Deri said. "You have to have education."
