New York, NY (PRWEB) November 2, 2009 -- It's been an exciting year for Urban Green Energy. The company first launched its UGE-4K vertical axis wind turbine less than one year ago and has been making significant achievements ever since.

With over 100 distributors worldwide, UGE has a fast growing international presence and has now sold products to customers in more than 20 countries. UGE's customers span from the US Military to charities in Africa, and from residential customers to Fortune 500 companies.

Recently UGE expanded its product line to include smaller 300W and 1kW models to give customers a full range of sizes to choose from. In addition, UGE recently launched two lines of wind/solar hybrid street lamps, both of which provide attractive designs to customers looking for a twenty-first century method of lighting streets, parking lots, and parks. Best of all they are completely "plug-and-play". No grid connection is necessary, and from day one the lamps will be powered by 100% clean energy.

To keep up with high customer demand, in September UGE commissioned an additional two buildings at its production headquarters. This expanded the factory's area to 35,000 square feet and with 25 acres of land in which to continue building its New Energy Technology Park, UGE is poised for further growth.

Although much of this growth is fueled by its growing distribution network, several emerging opportunities have opened up new business alliances. For example, many of the biggest US and international telecoms companies are now testing UGE turbines to power their cell towers.

Growth is also coming from greater wind energy incentives, such as the 30% federal tax credit which was introduced in the US earlier this year. Several US states have also introduced incentives for small wind. This summer the UGE-4K was one of the first VAWTs to be approved for California's small wind rebate, which provides a $10,000 rebate on the installation of the UGE-4K model. CEO Nick Blitterswyk urges consumers to take a close look at wind. Says Blitterswyk, "in a good location small wind can have a short pay-back period and takes up significantly less space than solar. New models are also extremely quiet and their appearance provides a strong 'green' statement."

Another recent development was the opening of UGE's London office to help service the UK market and the rest of Europe. The London office has already completed several successful installations and signed agreements with multiple new distributors. The European market has also seen several new government incentives introduced this year.

As 2009 nears its close, excitement for UGE's prospects could not be higher. Despite the struggling economy, total employee headcount has already grown by 250% this year. When asked what to watch for over the next 12 months Blitterswyk listed the following: distributors spreading knowledge of UGE's products and creating new sales; new and improved products reaching into both the mainstream and corners of the market that are just developing; and new and maturing relationships with some of the world's most successful companies. Judging by the first three quarters of 2009, great things can be expected in 2010.

This week UGE will be exhibiting at the AWEA Small and Community Wind Expo in Detroit, Michigan. If you are in the area please stop by to see the UGE-1K model up close!
