On November 4th, the American Advertising Federation of Santa Barbara features Jacques Habra speaking on social media, social networking, and the future of Web marketing. "With so much emphasis on social media these days, the timing is ideal," explained Habra. Beth Bastian, Vice President and board member with the AAF, says of Jacques, "having experienced Jacques present before, I am so pleased to have him headline this very important educational event." Habra says, "The event will focus on the best practices of social media, the future of social networking, and how to leverage these new tools." At Noospheric portfolio company FirstClickSEO, we spend so much energy on smart social media management, I look forward to sharing valuable strategies with the audience" added Habra." The event will be held at the Hotel Oceana from 5:30 - 7:30. More information available at the AAF Facebook event invitation page.

The following week, Jacques will host the November 10th Catalyst for Thought event at the Canary Hotel. The event entitle "Building a Thriving Business: How to avoid the common pitfalls" features Susan Urquhart-Brown, acclaimed business coach and author. Urquhart-Brown published the timely book "The Accidental Entrepreneur". Habra was one of the original members of Catalyst for Thought, a non-profit providing various forms of entrepreneurial lectures and events. "We donate the proceeds to a different non-profit with each event," explains Habra who also acts as Vice President of the organization. "The November event is very timely as more and more individuals seek to harness their entrepreneurial passions in response to the challenging economy," Habra says.

Santa Barbara City College’s Scheinfeld Center will host Wayne Rosing, former head of engineering at Google, on Fri., Nov. 20 from 4:30- 6:30 p.m. at the Fé Bland Forum on SBCC’s West Campus.

Another installment in the Scheinfeld Center's popular Enlightened Entrepreneurship Series, this program will focus on "Design and Innovation" during a casual chat with Wayne Rosing moderated by Jacques Habra. This conversation with Wayne Rosing presents a rare opportunity for guests to access the inner workings of a true innovator who helped create the distinctive Google environment.

"I am thrilled that SBCC's Scheinfeld Center asked me to interview Wayne Rosing,” Habra said. “I am especially excited to delve into the life and work of an individual who has pioneered so much technology that is so very close to my heart.”

Featured guest Wayne Rosing has been a key player in several landmark projects in the computing industry since the late 1970s. Gaining experience as an engineering manager at DEC and Data General in the 1970s, he became a director of engineering at Apple Computer in the early 1980s. There, he led the Apple Lisa project, the forerunner to the MAC. He then went on to become Vice President of Engineering at Sun Microsystems, leading the spin-off First Person where Java was created.

Mr. Rosing served as Vice President of Engineering at Google from November 2000 to April 2005 and continues to serve as an advisor to the company. He is now a senior fellow in mathematical and physical sciences at the University of California, Davis and senior fellow of engineering and astrophysics at UCSB. He lives in Santa Barbara and enjoys a busy 'refirement', building a network of telescopes distributed around the globe for scientific and educational use.

A Conversation with Wayne Rosing is also registered with Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) which is being held from November 16-22. The initiative, which will be recognized on six continents, is designed to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity.

"The Enlightened Entrepreneurship Series was offered for the first time last fall through the Scheinfeld Center and intended to give students access to highly successful and unique local entrepreneurs and innovators," said SBCC's Scheinfeld Center's director Melissa Crawford.
