Aviation Safety is Focus for Global Board of Directors

"Boeing recognizes the important role that aviation parts distributors bring to the aerospace industry and certainly the value that ASA provides to its membership and industry as a whole," remarks Greg McGowan, Quality Director Material Management Boeing Commercial Aviation Services. "It is through the development and implementation of a comprehensive quality standard (e.g., ASA-100) and accreditation program that member companies contribute to the safety of our aviation system."

Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 3, 2009 -- This fall, aviation professionals from 19 countries and over 35 U.S. states elected 4 industry executives to the Board of Directors for Washington D.C. based Aviation Suppliers Association (ASA). "Our International Board includes the addition of: Graham Mitchell, with Aero Inventory (UK) Ltd., along with the re-election of Greg McGowan of Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, Bob Hogan with Pratt & Whitney's Global Service Partners network, and Roy Resto from Messier-Bugatti-Tracer," states Michele Dickstein, President of ASA. "Since our association tackles both international and domestic aviation system challenges, it is important to establish a global Board of Directors that will successfully guide ASA. Seamless communication is also key and to ensure ASA's members receive relevant updates and access across all time zones, we rebuilt our web site utilizing the latest technology at the recently launched: www.aviationsuppliers.org and encourage members, partners, as well as industry to visit us on line and stay informed."

Adding value that positively impacts safety of flight is critical.

Promoting safety and regulatory compliance across an international industry remains an ASA priority. "Coming from a background of manufacturer and repair station airworthiness regulation within Europe, and upon my appointment to Aero Inventory 5 years ago, the lack of regulation of Distributors outside of the USA was apparent," states Graham Mitchell, Global Warehousing And Quality Director Aero Inventory (UK) Ltd. "In the absence of European regulations, we turned to ASA and Aero Inventory fully embraced the requirements of FAA AC 00-56A. Today, Aero Inventory continues to support ASA with its global aerospace customer base and I am personally honored to join the ASA Board of Directors this year. For the future, I look forward to the continued safe operation of aircraft and harmonization of regulatory requirements throughout the world."

Results oriented associations routinely exceed their targets despite economic points of correction. "I'm pleased to return to the ASA Board of Directors. This is an association that plays a significant role in the aerospace industry in the areas of regulatory compliance, ethics and safety," adds Bob Hogan, Director of Commercial Serviceable Assets and Customer Solutions, Pratt & Whitney. "As a result of our progress, more organizations have recognized the value of ASA. So, it's no surprise that our association continues to grow. In fact, this past year we increased global members by 16 percent and now have over 380 companies adding to our knowledge base."

Combining strategy and industry experience will continue to be a powerful formula for success. "This re-election serves as a mandate for the Board, myself, and ASA members to continue our efforts that shape positive solutions for Government and Industry issues of today and tomorrow, said Roy Resto, Vice President Technical Operations/FAA-DAR Tracer Corp., Messier-Bugatti-Tracer. "As we move forward, ASA will look at innovative approaches that will expand our involvement in the areas of export, customs, and quality from a global perspective."
