Black Forest Décor Announces Goal: 40 Percent to 50 Percent of their Product Offerings to be Eco-Friendly by the End of 2010

Leading rustic décor retailer adding items made from recycled, reclaimed and repurposed materials

Jenks, OK (PRWEB) November 3, 2009 - Black Forest Décor, a mail order and Internet business specializing in home décor , lighting products and rustic bedding for homes, cabins and lodges, recently announced that they will be making considerable changes to their inventory to meet the needs and demands of their eco-conscious clientele. Their stated goal for 2010 is to have 40-50 percent of their product offerings be environmentally friendly by year-end, with an increase each year thereafter.

In preparation for meeting their goal of adding quality items to their already extensive line of green cabin décor products, the company researched a number of manufacturers that maintain a distinct focus on their environmental impact. Among the featured items selected for their eco-friendly inventory are:

  • Hand-hammered pine tree and pine cone copper sinks, which are made from recycled copper that is melted down using recycled pallets and repurposed for bathroom sinks. No new trees are used to fire any of the kilns used in this process.
  • The Lakewood and Bear Fever Fleece Bedding collections featuring 100 percent recycled fiber construction. Each purchased blanket directly prevents up to 7.2 pounds of textile material from entering landfills.

"When selecting new green products to carry, we take a close look at their manufacturing processes and certainly prefer it when sustainable, ethical practices are used," said Jason Dupus, CEO of Black Forest Décor. "This is something we have done for a while, and our company will continue to be committed to partnering with manufacturers whose production has a lighter and more respectful impact on the Earth."

To that end, the company is now featuring items from a firm that creates cabin furniture such as wagon wheel barstools from recycled antique farm implements and Thai teak wood that would have otherwise been burned, causing marked damage to the environment. Additionally, they will add specialty products that are made from recycled, reclaimed, reused or repurposed materials such as recycled aluminum, dead trees, discarded barbed wire and reclaimed barn wood.

"We now have quite a few items made from recycled or reclaimed materials such as authentic barn wood from old, dismantled barns," continued Dupus. "Good examples of these outstanding eco-friendly products would be our Barnwood Bear Scene Table and our Bear Paw Barnwood Bed, as well as quite a few art prints framed with barn wood."
