AAPC to Offer Nationwide On-Site ICD-10 Implementation Training

Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) November 2, 2009 -- Comprehensive on-site ICD-10 implementation training will be available for organizations and companies nationwide beginning January 2010, the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC, www.aapc.com) announces today. The curriculum, developed by a team of experts led by renowned ICD-10 authority Deborah Grider, is customizable for many sizes and types of organizations, including health plans and providers.
The three-day, on-site, customized ICD-10 implementation training is designed to lead organizations through the implementation process step-by-step, ensuring the organization is fully prepared for the switch. The course outline includes organizing the implementation efforts, developing cross-functional teams, budgeting, outcomes measurement, crosswalking and mapping, and compliance along with hands-on exercises using the ICD-10 code set.

ICD-10 is part of the international standard diagnostic classification for all general epidemiological, many health management purposes and clinical uses. ICD-10 differs from its predecessor, ICD-9, in that it contains more than 155,000 codes--nearly 10 times the number of codes in the ICD-9 set. The change to the new system, as mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services in January 2009, will be the most challenging transition since the inception of coding.
