First European Summit on Unique Identification (UID) to be Held in Amsterdam

Leaders of NATO Work Groups & Global Defence Forces to Speak in Amsterdam, 2-3 December for the UID Summit.

Amsterdam, Netherlands (PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) November 2, 2009 -- Global defence leaders & industry suppliers will gather in Amsterdam, 2-3 December for the UID Summit. The UID Summit is the only dedicated opportunity for European defence officials and defence industry suppliers to come together to learn about the advantages of UID, specifically as it is called out in STANAG 2290 edition 2, pending ratification in November, and in the U.S. DoD Mil-STD-130.

UID is a methodology for marking and registering end items to facilitate asset management, multi-national logistics, and global supply chain capabilities through automatic data capture at key lifecycle events. UID has been gaining momentum in policy mandates globally and will affect all defence suppliers, military organizations, and governments.

The UID Summit will help organizations understand how UID, and strategic use of automatic identification technology, reduces costs and boosts operational planning by improving asset management; item visibility; supply chain efficiency; and lifecycle management.

The Summit will feature expert faculty and content-rich sessions that will include representation from: Danish Armed Forces; NATO's Asset Tracking Interservice Working Group; Netherlands Defence Materiel Organization; NATO Allied Committee 135 & NATO Codification; AIM (the global association for automatic identification and mobility); NATO Allied Committee 327, Work Group 5; U.S. Department of Defense; F-35; C-130; and more.
