Bridgewater Systems„·, a provider of dynamic IP and data service fulfillment and assurance solutions, today announced that Midwest Wireless has licensed its AAA Service Controller as well as Revenue Collector and Formatter to support the 3G wireless services it launched this week.

More than 50 percent of Midwest Wireless¡¦ total operational area is now enabled with CDMA2000 1X technology, constituting more than two-thirds of the populations serviced by the operator. The remainder of Midwest Wireless¡¦ network is expected to be 1X-enabled by the end of 2003.

According to Mark Allen, chief information officer, Midwest Wireless, ¡§We selected Bridgewater Systems to be part of our solution because of its extensive CDMA experience, redundant accounting capabilities and quick implementation.¡¨

Bridgewater Systems has a history of helping leading wireless service providers introduce data services across their CDMA networks with proven, integrated and rapidly deployable solutions. Bridgewater Systems is providing Midwest Wireless with solutions for subscriber access, service management, provisioning and mediation capabilities for its new CDMA 1X network deployment.

According to Derek Smyth, president and CEO, Bridgewater Systems, ¡§Midwest Wireless provided exactly the kind of opportunity we enjoy: helping a wireless carrier introduce, manage and capture revenue from new wireless data services. We offer the only vendor-neutral products that combine carrier-grade provisioning, subscriber access and service management with revenue collection and the ability to deliver billing records into the billing stream in multiple formats. This enabled us to provide a complete, end-to-end solution fully integrated with Midwest¡¦s OSS and billing systems.¡¨

The AAA Service Controller¡¦s powerful, centralized policy and profile engine will enable Midwest Wireless to model and provision new and differentiated services and flexible billing options across all types of wireless networks. For mobile IP users it also routes data calls to the optimal home agent based on the subscriber¡¦s location or service preferences.

Bridgewater Systems¡¦ Revenue Collector and Formatter collects and stores usage detail records across all access technologies. It filters, formats and streams the session records to the appropriate billing and settlement systems.
